Lugol's Iodine, was first made in 1829 by French physician Jean Guillaume Auguste Lugol (18 August 1786 – 16 September 1851). It is a solution of elemental iodine and potassium iodide in distilled water
The solution on sale here is based on Lugol's original formula of 10g of KI (potassium iodide) and 5g of I2 (elemental iodine). Potassium iodide contains 76.5% iodine so, when combined with 5g of Iodine and 85ml of distilled water we arrive at the strength of 12.65% iodine content.
The Iodine comes with a plastic dropper and an optional glass pipette.
